Who we are

WireTheSun is a trading name of DA GUIA LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (no. 12208093). We decide how your information is used, so we are its "controller" under UK data protection law.

For anything about your information, email info@wirethesun.com.

Making a plan (no account needed)

When you type or speak, the words or recording are sent to our AI provider (Cloudflare Workers AI) only to understand what you described. We do not keep the recording or what you typed.

We keep the answers the planner worked with (for example: home, 3 bedrooms, a fridge, eight 280 Ah batteries), the plan it gave you, and, if you choose to tell us, whether the plan looked right and your comment. This helps us find mistakes and improve the planner. It is kept for 90 days and is not linked to your name or email.

Why we may do this: our legitimate interest in providing the planner and making it better.

Visit statistics

We count visits without cookies and without storing IP addresses. For each visit we record the page, the approximate location your connection gives (country, region, city), the type of device, browser, system and language, the site you came from and any campaign tag in the link.

To count visitors we use a number made by scrambling the date, your connection and browser in a way that cannot be reversed. It changes every day, so nobody can be followed from one day to the next.

Detailed visit records are deleted after 90 days. Daily totals are kept to compare traffic over time.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics as a second visit counter. It uses no cookies and does not identify you: it counts page views, the page, the referring site, the country and the type of device and browser.

Why we may do this: our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used and keeping it working.

Your free account

If you create an account we keep your email address, your language, when you joined and last signed in, and the plans you save. We send sign-in links by email instead of using passwords.

We keep this until you ask us to delete your account.

Why we may do this: to provide the account you asked for (a contract with you).

Paid reports

When you buy a report we keep what you bought, the price, the payment reference and the cable distances you typed. Payments are handled by Stripe: we never see or store your card details.

We keep order records for 6 years, because UK tax law requires it.

Why we may do this: to provide what you bought, and to meet our legal duties.

Cookies and your browser

wts_session: keeps you signed in (90 days, only if you sign in). lang: remembers the language you chose. Both are needed for the site to work, so we do not ask for consent.

Unsaved work, such as cable distances or a house plan in progress, is kept in your own browser (local storage). It only reaches us when you save, share, make a PDF or buy, and is not stored by us unless you save or buy.

We use no advertising or tracking cookies.

Who helps us

Cloudflare (hosting, database, AI that understands speech and text), Stripe (payments) and Resend (sign-in emails). They only use your information to provide their service to us. Some of them may process it outside the UK; when they do, it is protected by UK-approved safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contract clauses.

We never sell your information and never share it for advertising.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, to object to how we use it, or to receive it in a file you can take elsewhere. Email info@wirethesun.com and we will answer within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113). We would appreciate the chance to fix it first.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
